Well this Fourth of July has been a far cry from the Lake, but it's been fun! We actually met some students who are here with Clemson RUF and working with MTW missionaries. It's a small world! It was so much fun to get to begin to know them and to hear about what they are doing. We had some good ole American food - hot dogs, mac n cheese, apple pie, brownies, chocolate chip cookies and banana pudding - yum! I know this is stereotypical, but being in other countries really has made me thankful for my own! Specifically, I'm thankful for the intentions of our founding fathers. I think we have a tendency to be doom and gloom when it comes to the government and the way our country is headed. That is a concern for sure, but I didn't realize exactly how much further down the path so many other countries are. We really do have a lot to be thankful for because our country was founded upon the idea that man is not ultimate. It began because people wanted freedom to worship the Lord. We can only pray that those convictions continue to last, and trust that the Lord's purposes always prevail.
"Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Blessed is he whose hope is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God," Psalm 146:3-4
