This is just a small sampling of the cathedral pictures. Our guide said it is the most important cathedral in Spain. They started building it in 1226. There are so many chapels and rooms with art. It was amazing. And we've been talking about Romantic and Gothic architecture in my Spanish Art History class this week, so it made it come alive! However, if I want to explain any of the terms or characteristics in English... I'm in trouble.
We studied this statue in class on Friday! It is really significant because it is one of the first instances where Mary and Jesus are shown as humans, with emotions. Previous renditions were extremely static, because the only part of God's character they knew was him as a powerful judge.
